The Gottman Relationship Checkup can be taken as a stand-alone tool which gives couples valuable information about their relationship and allows them to determine what type of services best serve their needs.
Couples can choose to enter regular couples’ therapy, have a Marathon Session, go to a Gottman Couples’ Workshop or simply use the information that is gained to enrich their relationship.
The Gottman Relationship Checkup is an online assessment which identifies areas of strength and challenge in relationships.
After receiving the couple’s registration, containing two separate email addresses, invitation links are sent to each partner separately. Once both partners complete the assessment, Gloria Bannasch is notified by the Gottman Institute that a new relationship analysis is complete; a Results Session will then be scheduled.
The results session can be conducted virtually for couples outside the area
The Gottman Relationship Checkup, when used in traditional Gottman Therapy sessions, is one of the steps in the assessment process.
The Assessment Process
- The Initial Couples’ Session – Information is gathered about the history of the relationship
- One, 45-Minute Individual Session for Each Partner – Information about the family of origin, trauma, and previous relationships is gathered.
- The Gottman Relationship Checkup – Couples complete this 90-minute, online assessment to receive a “big picture overview” of their relationship.
- The Results Session – The results of the Gottman Relationship Checkup, which identifies areas of strength, challenge, and targets areas where corrective work is needed, is discussed with the couple.
